10 questions to ask if you need to rethink the IT solution for your business

If you're like many business owners or CFO's who struggle with IT expenses, this just might be what the doctor ordered.

One of the hardest areas to focus on in terms of expenses for your company is none other than IT. When it comes to expenses IT has got to be one of the hardest branches to control effectively. Trying to sat ahead of the game and fix problems with the network could cost several thousands of dollars to repair should you have a server crash, if this has ever happened you know exactly what I'm talking about. I love to hear from people who say that they upgrade their equipment once it starts to fail or simple start running slow. I immediately ask them, "So did that fix the problem only for you to avoid the inevitable and replace that server?" In more cases then not the answer is always the same "YES". With this being said I have compiled a list of ten questions to ask yourself to determine if a different solution needs to be implemented to eliminate the frustrations, complications, and money spent on “fixing” your IT solution.

1. Do you find yourself constantly having employees coming to you and complaining about the speed of the network?

2. Does your network go down once a month?

3. Are you upgrading or replacing servers every three-to-five years?

4. Have you ever lost your contacts, e-mails, or files that you access from the server?

5. Has an employee copied a file that was confidential and pertained information about your clients, business, or other maters concerning your business?

6. When you last had to restore a file from a backup tape did that file all of a sudden become corrupt or unreadable?

7. Can you access your files from anywhere in the world that you have an internet connection and rest assured that this is a secure connection to the network?

8. If you contract another company to maintain your network and you go over the allotted hours of service or have a late night at the office and call on them, do they charge extra for their services?

9. Has your network went down while you where in the middle of a project only to find out that all of the hard work you put in went to waste because the network crashed before you had time to save your progress?

10. Are you tired of spending more money on your IT solution then you are on other important segments of your business, such as marketing, employee functions, core business functions, or anything related to an increase in employee moral and increased profits.

I know this is cliché, but if you answered yes to any of these questions please feel free to contact me at the following e-mail address to discuss other options available for your business. daryl@coaxis-asp.net

I assure you there is a better way to handle IT expenses and the solution often times supplies more functionality than the network you currently have setup. I look forward to hearing from you.
